Lies and Promises

So I just promised to do something for a friend.

And to fulfill my obligation, I will need to tell a lie.

Hm.

If you tell a lie (that doesn't really hurt anyone) in order to help a friend, is that bad?

Are white lies still bad?

My conscience is starting to get at me.
